The City's residential stock is small but distinctive: the Barbican and Golden Lane estates, apartments above and around Smithfield and the Temple borders, and a growing number of residential conversions in former office buildings. I've assessed Barbican flats and understand their particular construction — underfloor heating, concrete structure and Crittall-style glazing all feed into the rating in ways that surprise owners used to conventional properties.

The City of London is only a short distance from my base in Tower Hamlets, so I can usually get here quickly. I prioritise fast turnaround for the City: assessments can usually be arranged within 24–48 hours, and the certificate is lodged on the government register the same day.

Nearly every City residential building is porter- or concierge-managed. Give me the managing agent or porter's details and I'll arrange access directly, so you don't need to attend — particularly useful for overseas owners and landlords who don't live locally.
