Who I work with in Tower Hamlets

Tower Hamlets has one of the largest private rental sectors in London, and most of my work here is for landlords who need a valid EPC before letting a property. An EPC is a legal requirement when a home is let or sold, it lasts ten years, and rental properties must meet the minimum energy efficiency standard — currently an EPC rating of E, though the government plans to raise this to a rating of C by 1st October 2030. If your certificate has expired or your property has never had one, I can sort it quickly.

The borough's housing is hugely varied, and I've assessed all of it: modern high-rise apartments around Canary Wharf and Blackwall, warehouse conversions in Limehouse and Wapping, Victorian terraces in Bow, and ex-local-authority flats and maisonettes across the borough. For apartment blocks I'm used to arranging access with concierges and managing agents — just give me the block's contact details and I'll handle the rest.

What an EPC visit involves

The assessment typically takes 30–45 minutes for a flat and slightly longer for a house. I inspect the heating system, insulation, glazing, lighting and construction type, take the required photographs, and may ask a few questions about the home's history and any improvements you've made over the years, such as added insulation, a new heating system, or replacement windows. Any related paperwork or guarantees you can show me is a real bonus, as documented improvements can be reflected in your certificate.
